Job’s Gratitude

Do you have to have stuff for in order to be thankful? Do things have to be going well in life in order for us to be thankful? Today we look at Job 1:8-22. He had lost everything and yet continued to praise God.

A. Job looked back (v. 21) “Naked I came…”
1. He noticed his blessings, we shouldn’t take them for granted. (Lam. 3:22)
2. He cherished his blessings as gifts. Every time God blesses us it’s a gift of grace!
3. He dwells on them, and continually gave thanks. (Ps. 34, 1 Thess. 5:18, Eph. 5:20). Job counted his blessings!

B. Job looked forward, “Naked I shall return”

C. Job looks at the present. “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away.” He’s a steward (Job 31, 1 Cor. 7:29)
