Disappointed with God?

Today we look at Matthew 11… and times when you are disappointed with God. What do we do in situations like this?

After testifying that Jesus is the Messiah, John the Baptist begins to wonder if Jesus really is the promised one. John might have been expecting something/someone else (Is. 52:13-14). The disciples felt this way at times, and so do we, even today.

In the passage in Matthew, Jesus responds to John with not a simple yes or no, but evidence that He is the Messiah. (Is. 55:9). He calls John to faith, and He still calls us to faith! (Rom. 11:33-34)

If God’s thoughts are higher than my thoughts, maybe He might have something different in mind. Trust God! He’s committed to doing everything for our best interests for the long run.

At the end of the passage, Jesus builds John up and encourages him! (Matt. 11:11-16)

So God says to us, “Ask Me questions, resolve your doubts.” Trust God, He makes no mistakes. Our inability to understand God should lead us to worship.
