Blessed When You are Persecuted

This beatitude (Matt. 5:10-12) is based on other’s attitudes. Jesus promised that if we believe in Him, we will be persecuted.

Why? Because of righteousness (v.10, 2 Tim. 3:10-12) and because of our identification with Him (v.11, John 15).

The results of being persecuted:
-We will receive a great reward in heaven (v.12)
-We join a great group of God’s people (v.12)
-We become salt and light in our world (v.13-14)
-God receives praise (v.16)

Remember that God gives grace WHEN we need it, not before!
